Past event

On October 30, the university celebrates the centenary of the right to confer doctorates. On this occasion, doctor-alumni, who are now in leadership positions all over the world, will discuss future challenges with doctoral candidates in the Freiberg Future Forum.

Climate change is one of the greatest challenges mankind has ever faced. With this focus, participants will jointly reflect on how they can contribute to realizing the necessary societal change regarding their subject areas, what impacts this will have and what this means for the education of our students and doctoral candidates today.

The keynote speakers are three alumni with a doctorate of our university who now work at the United Nations and at universities in Sudan and Brazil. Participants are invited to contribute to 10 topic-oriented discussion forums, which are based on the main topics of the European Green Deal for the creation of a climate-neutral economy by 2050. In the final part of the Freiberg Future Forum we will discuss about the requirements of this paradigmatic changes for the education of students and doctoral students at our university.

The Freiberg Future Forum is chaired by Dr. Kristina Wopat, director of the Graduate and Research Academy of the TU Bergakademie Freiberg, and takes place as an online event in Big Blue Button in English.
