From the lab to the market: TU Bergakademie Freiberg again successful in Saxon validation funding

In October, six new projects of the second call of the validation funding of the Saxon State Ministry of Economy, Labor and Transport (SMWA) will start at the TU Bergakademie Freiberg. Of a total of 49 applications from Saxon research institutions, 25 projects will be funded. All six applications of TU Bergakademie Freiberg were successful and were approved. Recovering precious metals from electrocatalysts: Scientists develop new process

Hydrogen from electrolysis with renewable energies is considered a key element of the energy transition. By means of catalysts, water is split into its components hydrogen and oxygen. The electrochemical reaction requires precious metals such as platinum, iridium or ruthenium as catalysts. How the recycling of these metals can be improved has been examined for three years by a European research project with the participation of TU Bergakademie Freiberg.  Read more...

Selective extraction – recovery of important industrial metals

Funded by Audi Environmental Foundation, a team of TU Bergakademie Freiberg is researching the recovery of strategically important raw materials. Indium, gallium or tin are not rare, but indispensable for modern technologies, such as semiconductor components or photovoltaic systems.
