Neuer Professor für Bohrtechnik und Bohrungskomplettierung

From TUBAF to industry and back again: Professor Ulf Kirsten is following in the footsteps of Professor Matthias Reich at the Faculty of Geosciences, Geotechnical Engineering, and Mining – known as Germany's only professor of deep drilling technology and active with his own YouTube channel. With the new appointment, the professorship has been renamed the Chair of Drilling Technology and Well Completion. Professor Ulf Kirsten will take up his post at the Institute of Drilling Technology and Fluid Mining on September 1, while Professor Matthias Reich will retire in October.  Read more...

Professor Jutta Emes appointed Rector of TUBAF

With the appointment by the Saxon Minister of Science Sebastian Gemkow and the handover of the certificate by State Secretary Professor Heike Graßmann on 21 July 2025, Professor Jutta Emes has officially been appointed as the new Rector of TU Bergakademie Freiberg. She now succeeds Professor Klaus-Dieter Barbknecht, who led the university for ten years.  Read more...

Climate adaptation for the stable of the future

On 11 July 2025, the association "Zentrum für zukunftsfähige Tierhaltung" was founded at the TU Bergakademie Freiberg (TUBAF). Under the leadership of Freiberg University, researchers, private individuals and members of industry have joined forces to drive forward an innovation pool for the animal-friendly and sustainable barn of the future. Millions for Central German Startup Factory: "boOst" wins federal lighthouse competition

Entrepreneurial future made in Central Germany: The Central German consortium "boOst Startup Ecosystem gGmbH" is one of ten projects nationwide that was selected as part of the EXIST lighthouse competition "Startup Factories" organised by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWE). This was announced by the BMWE at a press conference in Berlin. This outstanding success is associated with millions of euros in funding from the federal government, which will be supplemented by at least the same amount of funding from the project partners from industry.  Read more...

Resource-efficient glass production: Sindy Fuhrmann appointed to professorship for energy- and raw material-efficient glass technology

Tenure sucessfully comleted: Following a positive evaluation of her work, Sindy Fuhrmann was appointed to a regular professorship at the WISNA Tenure-Track Program of the TU Bergakademie Freiberg as of July 1. Since March 2020, the alumna of the TUBAF has been researching at the Institute for Glass and Glass Technology how glass can be produced, processed and recycled in a resource-efficient manner.  Read more...

Kleine Achat-Sonderausstellung im Foyer der terra mineralia

Besonders schöne Achate, teilweise mit Amethysten, aus der Sammlung des Freiberger Mineralogen Reiner Haake (1937-2023) sind noch bis November 2025 im Foyer der terra mineralia im Schloss Freudenstein ohne Eintritt zu sehen. Haake war ab 2008 einer der ersten Reiseleiter für Besuchergruppen in der neu gegründeten terra mineralia. Nun übergibt seine Familie posthum die Achate von Rainer Haake der Mineraliensammlung der TU Bergakademie Freiberg als Dauerleihgabe.  Read more...

Auto aus Pappe rollt 27 Meter – Preise für erfinderische Schülerinnen und Schüler
